As capacity building is the basis for any start, a training session was made available to local Kombo Itindi communities in southwest Cameroon. On this occasion, men, women and children of the region received knowledge in conservation and management of resources in the landscape. In order to reduce the bad impact that these indigenous people have on their environment and to become aware of the importance, value of the various natural resources in the area.

To make the population adopt the right reflexes vis-à-vis their daily reality, the following themes were identified and training was developed on the modules:

The potential of mangrove resources;
The legal framework for the protection of mangroves;
Sustainable fishing in mangrove ecosystems;
Waste management;
Services and development of ecosystems.

It’s only a matter of time before we see the returns of this initiative.
